Respiro Votivo

Installation at Mainhavenweg, 2021, Amsterdam

Title: Respiro Votivo
Year: 2021
Material: Glass; Ceramic

Respiro Votivo is a sculptural translation of the search for alternative healing methods developing between the organic and the inorganic. It consists of a series of wind instruments that help train the lungs and gain control over the breathing pattern while allowing a form of inner liberation through the act of exhaling. When breathing out the waste products of respiration are eliminated from the body together with the emotional tension. Formally, the objects refer to the ancient Roman practice of ex-voto which brings a component of belief required to elevate the healing act to the nonphysical space of sound.
